Rolex Milgauss White Dial 40mm 116400 2008 [Preowned]
Overview
The Milgauss was introduced in 1956 as a tribute to the scientists in the world. Besides being a simple 3 hand sports watch - this watch has unique features which suits the professionals who had to work in laboratories, power plants, research facilities - which all came in contact with electromagnetic fields.
The Milgauss was built to be not only robust, easy to read, but also with special anti-magnetic components which allowed it be worn in any environment. Rolex even named it Milgauss - which represented One-Thousand Gauss (in latin). Bearing also a unique lightning bolt on its seconds- hand - this particular GV model has a unique green sapphire glass which is all unique to the Milgauss alone.
Around 2016, Rolex discontinued all the non-GV (without Green Sapphire Glass) models. The white dial model was one of the first be discontinued.
The white dial is unique as the combination of white and orange colors really pop out - with the index and seconds hand being orange, while the dial remains white.
The reference 116400 is now discontinued and no longer produced.
