Overview 

Rolesor — the combination of Oystersteel and gold in a single case — has been part of the Datejust since 1945. The 278271 is the current Everose Rolesor expression in the 31mm format: 18k Everose gold at the fluted bezel and Jubilee center links, Oystersteel at the case body and outer bracelet links. The chocolate dial with diamond indices is the configuration that makes the most of this material combination — the warm brown of the dial reads as part of the same palette as the Everose gold rather than a contrast to it.

The case is 31mm with the Everose gold fluted bezel sitting at the transition between the gold and steel. The dial is chocolate sunray — a warm brown that moves between a lighter bronze tone and a deeper reading depending on angle and light — with ten brilliant-cut diamonds set in 18k gold apertures as hour markers and a date window at 3 with Cyclops lens. On the Jubilee bracelet, the polished Everose center links against the brushed Oystersteel outer links carry the warm-and-cool contrast of the dial through to the wrist.

The Calibre 2236 is Rolex's self-winding movement developed specifically for the 31mm format. Its Syloxi silicon hairspring addresses the precision challenges that smaller calibres face relative to their larger counterparts — silicon is more stable against temperature variation and shock than a conventional alloy hairspring at this scale. 55-hour power reserve, Superlative Chronometer certified to ±2 seconds per day.

The Datejust 31 in Everose Rolesor with diamond dial positions above the all-steel configuration at both retail and secondary — the premium is material cost, not collector speculation. Within the Rolesor range, the chocolate dial with diamond indices holds the most consistent secondary demand; the Everose palette and the brown dial have not cycled through the fashion trends that affect other colour configurations in this category.
