The Explorer II was introduced in 1970s when it was introduced for cave explorers, jungle and polar explorers - whereby it was difficult to distinguish between day and night in these places.
The Explorer II's unique feature was a 4th hand and a 24hour marker bezel - which acts as a AM/PM indicator. Only in the newer references - did the 4th hand had the ability to tell a second time-zone.
The reference 216570 is the previous Explorer II. Introduced since 2011, and discontinued in 2021. The new reference that supersedes is 226570.
