M.A.D.1 Editions Raffles "Time To Love"
Overview
The M.A.D.1 is a timepiece from the MB&F's M.A.D. Gallery - founded by Maximilian Busser. MB&F is famous for its other-worldly timekeeping machines. The M.A.D.1 is priced more reasonably, with a MB&F touch.
The key distinct features are the visible triple-blade tungsten & titanium rotor which winds up a unidirectional movement (Miyota 8315). The watch is designed flipped upside-down, with time displayed on the sides - with revolving hour and minute cylinders.
The first M.A.D.1, launched in 2021, was distinguished by its striking blue accents and was initially available only to MB&F's close network of suppliers—referred to as "the Friends"—and members of "The Tribe," the exclusive MB&F owners club. The overwhelming positive response to this model spurred Maximilian Büsser to expand the offering. In 2022, he introduced the M.A.D.1 RED, a version that was made available to a broader audience. The series continued to grow with the introduction of the M.A.D.1 GREEN and the special edition “Lucky Clover” in 2023, adding vibrant new options to the M.A.D.Editions lineup.
In 2024, the celebrated French artist and designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (JCC) made his debut in watchmaking as the first collaborator on a M.A.D.1 edition. JCC brought his signature style to the project, incorporating his three iconic colors—red for passion, blue for hope, and yellow for human warmth—into the M.A.D.1 rotor, with one wing slightly heavier to enhance its spinning motion. A striking green accent was also added inside the 42mm case, visible through the side of the watch's hour disc. This collaboration marked the first limited edition and the first external partnership for M.A.D.Editions. The result was the M.A.D.1 ‘Time to Love,’ a limited edition of 999 pieces, complete with a white calfskin leather strap, a pouch, a blacklight torch, a presentation box, and outer packaging.
The M.A.D.1 was launched by raffle and is completely sold out.
