Nicknamed "Blue Clouds", the SBGP017 captures the ethereal beauty of the sea of clouds that envelopes the mountains of Shinshu at daybreak—a fleeting natural spectacle translated into a permanent horological treasure.

The soul of the watch is its "Blue Clouds" textured dial. The delicate, irregular pattern mimics the shifting density of high-altitude clouds, finished in a serene, pale blue that feels both airy and substantial. Adorning the dial is a small, five-pointed gold star at 6 o'clock—a significant mark in Grand Seiko’s hierarchy. This "Special Standard" insignia indicates that the quartz crystals were aged and rigorously tested to achieve an extraordinary accuracy of +/- 5 seconds per year, surpassing the already industry-leading standard 9F movement.
