IWC Big Pilot Tribute to 5002 Safari 7 Days IW501007 2018 [Preowned]

Overview 

IWC Big Pilot is one of the most iconic Pilot watches ever made. Re-introduced back in 2002, it was clear that it would be an instant favorite amongst Pilot enthusiast. 

The Big Pilot has a long history which can be traced back to decades ago back during the period of war. There were many iterations of the Big Pilot over the years - but the main design theme remained the same. The watch was designed as a Pilot's watch (highly legible) and has a large wrist presence.

The IWC Big Pilot reference IW5010-07 'Safari' was introduced in late 2017. It features a matte titanium case and a dial inspired by the original 5002-generation Big Pilot. It is fitted with a buffalo leather strap.

It first appeared in early June on the Instagram page of IWC CEO Chris Grainger-Herr as a one-off, but the positive reception made IWC put it into [limited] production. It was dubbed 'Safari' after Mr. Grainger-Herr took it with on vacation to the Kruger Park.

This particular reference is a limited edition of 100 pieces, sold out upon first release.
